Pros and cons of MSP


The term MSP means Managing Successful Programmes. In other words, it can be defined as the programs undertaken are to be managed successfully. MSP was developed as a best practice guide on Programme Management. The MSP practice guide can be achieved through the MSP training. The guide comprises a set of principles and a set of processes. With the aid of these two principles, the progrmme taken for any project can be achieved successfully. The MSP training courses are prepared and adopted to the participants that they can implement the principles of MSP effectively and efficiently in their field of workforce. As a MSP certified professional, I have got the ability to apply the proven programme management practice in the successful delivery of transformational change. The MSP training course enhanced my ability to meet the needs of local circumstances, because MSP is very flexible and designed to adopt the same.
The MSP is considered as the best practice approach for the purpose of programme management successfully. The MSP supports the management of multiple projects that aim to deliver strategic organizational benefits in a complex business environment. MSP practitioner is a methodology comprising a set of principles and processes for use while managing a programme.
The foundation of MSP is based on three core concepts:
*MSP Principles comprises positive and negative lessons learned from programmed experiences. These are the common factors for achieving success of any transformational change.
*MSP Governance Themes are an organizational approach to program management. These themes allow an organization to put in place the right leadership, delivery team, organization structures and controls and thus provide the best chance for success.
*MSP Transformational Flow provides a route through the lifecycle of a programme from its conception through to the delivery of the new capability, outcomes and benefits.
The MSP certification is based on two steps:
TheMSP Foundation level confirms that the individuals have got sufficient knowledge and understanding of MSP guidance so that the individuals can adopt the principles of MSP at the time of need in the work place as a professional MSP. The purpose of the Foundation level is also to confirm that the individuals are able to act as an informed member of a Programme office team, business change team or project delivery team working within the environment of supporting MSP. The MSP Foundation is also the pre-requisite of the practitioner level.
The MSP Practitioner level confirms that the individuals have got sufficient knowledge and understanding to be a member of a programme management team. This level is also required for programme management professionals progressing towards the advanced MSP practitioner certification.
MSP Advanced practitioner level confirms that the individuals have got the credibility to lead a programme of transformational change.
All the MSP Practitioner and/or Advanced Practitioner require re-registering within 3-5 years as a professional MSP. The relevant information as regards to the MSP certification may be available online. There are many websites available offering requisite information and papers with the video facility.
